Spring Skills Clinics
Spring is a great time to take your skills to the next level, so that you can reach your goals. Our program is designed to help players of all levels build their abilities, increase their strength and learn more about the game. We've designed programs specific to each age level to build key skills from skating, to puck handling, to shooting. We have a mix of sessions at the Edge Ice Arena and Foothills Ice Arena that are around $30 per session! Our top Foothills Skills Coaches will teach all of these sessions.
8U - The 8U group will focus on skating and puck skills. The skating will focus on proper edge work, body alignment, and forward and backward strides. With puck skills, we will work on appropriate stick handling, vision while you have the puck, passing, and shooting.
10U - The 10U group will focus on advanced power skating and puck skill techniques. During power skating, we will concentrate on quicker starts, changing direction, overspeed, and agility. Puck skills activity will focus on learning how to make moves in tight areas and the open ice. We will also focus on proper shooting techniques in all areas of the ice. These skills will also focus on appropriate vision control to enhance the athlete's success.
12U/14U - The 12U/14U group will focus on advanced power skating, puck control, protection, and checking. In the advanced power skating and puck control segments, staff will focus on changing direction with the puck while maintaining vision. They will also work on deception with and without the puck. This will lead to learning to be a more patient player with puck protection drills and techniques. The body-checking portions will teach the players how to properly give and receive body checks.
Goaltending - There are no specific sessions or coaches for goalies this Spring. But you can sign up (for zero cost) for your goalie to attend the skills sessions.
8U/10U Girls - This group will focus on skating, puck skills and small area games. We will focus on the same skills as the 8U and 10U group descriptions above.
